The Scale of our Work and New Poll about the Virtual Globe War

After nearly 90 votes, our previous poll indicates Slashgeo users are working at all scales. From the district scale to the world scale, no map scale really gets more attention. Only the time scale is left aside (1 vote), which isn't really a surprise, with some people playing at multiple scale at the same time (16%). The new poll asks you about who will win the virtual globe war. This is somewhat related to this previous poll last June about who will win the webmapping war, which proclaimed, out of 110 answers, Google Maps and OpenStreetMap winners.

Slashgeo: The Virtual Globes War Poll Results and New Poll [+]
It seems the Virtual Globes war interests our readers, it came second in our Hall of Fame for poll participation. Slashgeo users strongly (58%) believe Google Earth is winning the war. NASA World Wind is good second with 14%, Virtual Earth 3D at 6%. Advertisers received 7% of the vote, while 5% claim the users themselves are winning the war. ArcGIS Explorer (2% but unreleased at the beginning of the poll) and GlobeXplorer (0%) did poorly. 7% cautious users said it's too early to tell. Now, let's have a Christmas-related poll!
Slashgeo Improvements: Trackbacks, GeoRSS, New Poll and More [+]
Some improvements to Slashgeo. Trackback pings can now be sent and received. Additionally, you can slashdot and digg stories with a simple click as much as adding a del.icio.us bookmark. As some of you might have noticed, our RSS feed is back to GeoRSS and Google Maps can be shown on a story's page. Not everything works flawlessly yet, but we're working on it. You can sure share your feature requests! I also update the main page poll to ask you about which main scale you work with. The previous poll about projects revealed most users have many projects (39%) and are missing time (18%) or funding (18%). Only 7% feel they work on the best geospatial projects. You might also expect few news items until Friday, since I'll be attending the Geomatics 2006 conference. Don't worry, we'll cover any significant story to make sure you didn't miss anything pertinent.
