The Free Geography Tools describes his six free must-have applications for handheld GPS devices. The categories are: downloading/uploading point and track information, GPS datafile creation with maps, GPS file format conversion, digital globe, photo geotagging and GPS satellite visibility. Some of these softwares have been mentioned on Slashgeo before.

The GPS tracklog blog links to GPSBabel and their newly released version 1.3.0. The official GPSBabel website: "GPSBabel converts waypoints, tracks, and routes from one format to another, whether that format is a common mapping format like Delorme, Streets and Trips, or even a serial upload or download to a GPS unit such as those from Garmin and Magellan.
