The Map Room blog has an article covering this nice mapping application. From their summary : "It doesn’t work in Safari and the text is only in Chinese, but this eerily cartoon-like, three-dimensional map of Shanghai is still worth a look. (I think I just had a Sim City flashback.)"

Ogle Earth has an entry on a 3D webmapping tool coming in 2010 for Shanghai. Nothing really surprising, but the comments are really worthed, including the user comments. A part of the entry: "Wouldn't it be better if IGN and the Shanghai city government made their datasets available in an open format, viewable with a range of virtual globes? [...] You can bet your bottom dollar that this content will be censored, just as GéoPortail's is. [...] 2010 is far off. Google Earth already today lets you show 3D buildings, as does Microsoft Virtual Earth 3D."

  E-dushi came out in 2005, it was added to the VTP site on January 19, 2006... yes it was very dramatic news when it came to light, back then.

    You're right Ben, E-Dushi was even covered by Slashgeo over two years ago [slashgeo.org] :-)
