Vector One and Spatial Sustain share their thoughts on how has the geospatial platform evolved, and what is the future for expert tools. From V1: "n a sense we have technologies, as a platform, collectively, that we need to build capacity for. The wider community needs to get out of single domain perspectives and into integrated planning, holistic approaches – the connected future. There is a need to be less insular and more outward looking and multi-disciplinary. A need to participate in leading policy by virtue of knowledge gained from geospatial platform tools and awareness (and willingness) to develop new future tools for societies of tomorrow."
From SS: "If we’re going to find expedient solutions to sustainability issues, GIS will need to evolve to incorporate multiple and in-depth Earth system process models and address dynamic processes across large space and long time. We need to develop sophisticated means to model, simulate and analyze dynamic processes. [...] Finally, we need to link geospatial tools, models and analysis to the planning, funding and project process, so that GIS lives up to its integrative and collaborative potential."
